The reason for this is that the shape of the diamond allows light reflection effectively making it sparkle more. After all, people want a diamond to sparkle. That’s the reason this diamond is popular.

•    Cut: The cut refers to how well the round cut loose diamond has been cut from the stone. One of the authority when it comes to grading diamonds is GIA or the Gemological Institute of America. When it comes to round diamonds, they are categorized on the basis of cut. There are five categories excellent, very good, good, fair, and poor. Obviously, one would prefer an excellent cut diamond.
•    Color: The color refers to whether the stone looks colorless or it has a yellowish tinge to it. Color preference varies from person to person and it is mainly a subjective criterion. Colors are graded from D-Z. The grade of D-F, which are essentially colorless are more preferred.
•    Clarity: When the diamond has imperfections in it, it is said to be of lesser clarity. The higher clarity diamonds are those that are flawless with virtually no imperfections. The diamonds with no imperfection are obviously in greater demand. This again is subjective with many people ready to buy a stone with very less imperfections that are not obviously visible.
•    Carat: The weight of a round cut diamond is represented using carats. For round diamonds, the size of the diamond would be 6.5mm when it is 1 carat. A 0.5 carat is 5mm in size. A 3 carat diamond is 9.1mm large.

When you are buying round diamonds, you would, of course, look at the 4Cs before buying. The GIA certificate can be verified before buying. This is an assurance of quality. When you are planning to buy round diamonds, here are the points to consider:
•    You can either buy online or from the showroom of a reputed diamond manufacturer. Buying online is much more cost-effective, however you would need to make sure you are buying from a reliable quality supplier .You can verify this through the GIA certificate and also by verifying reviews from other customers.
•    When you are buying a round cut loose diamond you need to inspect the diamond well before you actually buy it. Look at the setting of the diamond also while purchasing. The colorless appearance needs to be seen with respect to the setting.
•    When it comes to cut, excellent is the grade you need to look at. For clarity, you can check the diamond in natural light to look for any imperfections visible to the eye.
